A Weekend in North Wales from Chester: Your 48-Hour Escape
One of the joys of Owl Lodges is how close it is to the city yet how far away it feels. We’re around 30 minutes from Chester, 25 minutes from Flint station and under an hour from Liverpool and Manchester — so a restorative weekend in the North Wales countryside is far easier to reach than you might think. Here’s how we’d spend 48 hours.
Friday evening: arrive and unwind
Check in from 4pm, light the lodge, and let the working week melt away. Our A-frames each have a private hot tub on the deck — the perfect way to start the weekend under the stars. If you’ve not eaten, the village pub is a short stroll away.
Saturday: hills, history and a hot tub
Spend the morning walking in the Clwydian Range — Moel Famau is the classic choice. In the afternoon, the historic city of Chester, the beaches of the North Wales coast and the gateway to Snowdonia are all within easy reach. See our activities guide for the full list. Round the day off back at the lodge with a soak and a glass of something local.
Sunday: a slow morning
No rush — check-out is a relaxed 10am. Take a final valley walk, or browse the farm shops and cafés we recommend in our eating out guide on your way home.
