The Best Dog-Friendly Walks in the Clwydian Range

The Clwydian Range is one of the finest walking landscapes in North Wales — a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of heather moorland, ancient hillforts and quiet wooded valleys. Best of all, much of it is wonderfully dog-friendly, which makes it the perfect base for a break with your four-legged friend. Here are our favourite walks, all within a short drive (or a stroll) of Too-wit, our dog-friendly lodge.

1. Moel Famau & the Jubilee Tower

The highest point in the Clwydian Range, Moel Famau rewards you with panoramic views across to Snowdonia, the Cheshire Plain and the Irish Sea on a clear day. The main path from the Bwlch Penbarras car park is well-surfaced and around three miles there and back — manageable for most, and dogs love the open moorland at the top.

2. Loggerheads Country Park

Just a few minutes away, Loggerheads is an easy, riverside favourite with cafés, level paths and plenty of shade in summer. It’s ideal for a gentler morning when you’d rather amble than climb.

3. Around Nannerch and the valley

Step straight out from the lodges and explore the lanes and field paths around Nannerch. After your walk, the Cross Foxes Inn is a short stroll away for a well-earned drink by the fire.

Coming back to the lodge
